Personal protective equipment (PPE) is your last line of defense against workplace hazards. OSHA requires employers to assess hazards and provide appropriate PPE at no cost to workers. Our comprehensive PPE inventory covers head-to-toe protection for industrial, healthcare, and construction environments.

Gloves are the most frequently used PPE in industrial settings. Disposable nitrile gloves offer chemical splash protection, puncture resistance, and tactile sensitivity — the #1 choice for lab, janitorial, and inspection tasks. Cut-resistant work gloves with Kevlar, Dyneema, or stainless steel mesh protect hands from sharp edges in metalworking, glass handling, and packaging.

Safety glasses and goggles protect against impact, chemical splash, dust, and optical radiation. Z87.1-rated frames and lenses meet ANSI impact standards. Anti-fog, anti-scratch, and tinted/shaded options for specialized environments. Over-glass safety spectacles fit over prescription eyewear.

Respiratory protection ranges from disposable N95 respirators for nuisance dusts and particulate hazards to half-mask and full-face elastomeric respirators with P100 cartridges for chemical vapors and airborne particulates. Fit testing and medical clearance required per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134.

Head protection: Type I hard hats protect against vertical impact (top-of-head); Type II protects against lateral impact (side, front, back). Full-brim provides sun protection; cap-style is lighter and more compatible with hearing and face protection accessories.

Hi-vis apparel, fall protection, earplugs, safety vests, and protective clothing complete our PPE offering. We stock ANSI Class 2 and Class 3 hi-vis vests and shirts for roadway and warehouse environments. Earplugs and earmuffs with NRR ratings from 25 to 33 dB.

How to Choose the Right PPE & Safety Gear

Start with a hazard assessment. Identify physical, chemical, biological, and radiological hazards in each work area. Match PPE to the specific hazard — not all gloves protect against all chemicals; not all respirators filter all particulates.

For gloves, consider: material (nitrile for chemicals, latex for biological, Kevlar for cut resistance), thickness (4-8 mil for general, 8-15 mil for heavy chemical), length (wrist-length for splash, gauntlet for immersion), and texture (smooth for precision, textured for grip).

Respirator selection requires knowing your contaminant (particulate, gas/vapor, or combination) and its concentration relative to the exposure limit. N95 stops 95% of non-oil particulates; P100 stops 99.97%. Organic vapor cartridges protect against solvents and paints.

Hard hats expire. UV light, temperature extremes, and chemical exposure degrade the shell over time. Replace hard hats every 5 years (per manufacturer) or immediately after any impact. Suspension systems should be replaced every 12 months.

Disposable & Work Gloves for Every Application

Industrial work gloves

Nitrile gloves are the most versatile disposable glove: excellent chemical splash protection, superior puncture resistance vs. latex, and low allergy risk. Powder-free options eliminate contamination risks. Available in exam-grade (4-6 mil) and heavy-duty (8-15 mil) thicknesses.

Cut-resistant work gloves are rated on the ANSI/ISEA 105 scale from A1 (light) to A9 (extreme). A2-A3 handles light assembly work. A4-A6 is standard for metal stamping, glass handling, and packaging. A7-A9 for heavy metal, plate glass, and razor blade handling.

General-purpose work gloves in leather, synthetic leather, and string-knit with latex or PVC coating protect against abrasion, blisters, and dirt. Machine-knit styles maximize dexterity. Terry cloth gloves for warm environments and material handling.

Respiratory Protection — N95, P100 & Elastomeric

Disposable N95 respirators filter out 95% of airborne particulates including dust, mold, pollen, and infectious aerosols. N95s should not be used for oil-based aerosols, gases, or vapors. They require proper fit testing for OSHA compliance.

P100 (HEPA) filters block 99.97% of particulates, including lead dust, asbestos, and fine metal fumes. Use P100 when the hazard is particularly toxic and even small exposure levels are unacceptable. P100 filters are typically used with half-mask or full-face elastomeric respirators.

Half-mask and full-face elastomeric respirators with dual cartridges offer the broadest protection. Organic vapor cartridges for solvents and paints. Acid gas cartridges for chemical processing. Combination cartridges (P100 + organic vapor) for painting applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of gloves do I need for chemical handling?

Nitrile gloves are the best general-purpose chemical protection glove. Use 4-6 mil exam-grade for incidental splash and 8-15 mil heavy-duty for direct chemical handling. Check the chemical manufacturer's safety data sheet for specific permeation data.

What ANSI standard applies to safety glasses?

ANSI Z87.1 is the US standard for eye and face protection. Look for "Z87+" marking (high impact) on the frame. Z87+ rated glasses withstand the impact of a 6.35mm steel ball traveling at 550 FPS.

Do you carry NIOSH-approved respirators?

Yes. All our respirators and filters are NIOSH-approved as required by OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134. N95 filtering facepieces, P100 filters, and combination cartridges are clearly labeled with their NIOSH approval number.

What is the difference between Type I and Type II hard hats?

Type I hard hats protect against vertical impact (objects falling from above). Type II hard hats protect against vertical AND lateral impact (side impact from swinging objects, bumps). Type II is increasingly required for general construction work.

How do I choose the right hearing protection?

Hearing protection is rated by Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) in decibels. NRR 25-28 is sufficient for most industrial environments (85-95 dBA). NRR 29-33 is needed for extremely loud environments (100+ dBA). Foam earplugs provide the highest NRR when properly inserted.
