Corrugated Boxes

Corrugated boxes remain the #1 choice for protective, economical shipping packaging worldwide. E-commerce fulfillment, industrial parts distribution, food & beverage, and moving companies all rely on the strength-to-weight advantage and recyclability of corrugated fiberboard.

Material Handling USA stocks more than 2,700 different corrugated box configurations ready to ship the same day. Our selection covers everything from small 4×4×4 mailers and retail folding cartons up to 48×40×36 heavy-duty double-wall and triple-wall gaylord-style containers capable of holding over 1,000 lbs.

All boxes meet or exceed ASTM and carrier requirements. Choose from 32 ECT/200 lb test standard single-wall boxes, upgraded 44–51 ECT or 275 lb test for stacking stresses, and ultra-tough triple-wall options. We carry B-flute, C-flute, and E-flute profiles plus double-wall combinations for specialized performance.

Popular styles include Regular Slotted Containers (RSC), Full Overlap, Half-Slotted with separate lids, Die-Cut mailers with tuck-top or auto-bottom, and telescoping boxes for artwork, mirrors, and long narrow items.

Bulk buyers save significantly. Case pricing is already aggressive. Pallet and truckload quantities unlock special negotiated rates plus flexible delivery scheduling. Ship from multiple distribution centers nationwide so lead times stay short even for West and East coast customers.

How to Choose the Right Corrugated Boxes

Measure your longest, widest, and deepest dimensions. Add 1.5–2 inches on each side for protective cushioning (bubble, foam, or kraft paper). Order boxes that allow a snug but not tight fit.

For heavy or tall loads choose higher ECT ratings (44 ECT minimum recommended). Double-wall or triple-wall boxes provide superior column strength for warehousing stacks.

Standard flap closure (RSC) is fastest for hand packing. For automated lines or tamper evidence, consider full-overlap flap or tapeless self-seal mailers.

When shipping hazmat or liquids use the correct UN specification packaging and consult our hazmat box selection or call our specialist team.

Types of Corrugated Board & Flute Profiles

Single-wall (one layer of fluted medium between two liners) is the workhorse for most packages under 65–70 lbs.

Double-wall adds a second fluted layer and can handle 80–150+ lb loads when combined with higher ECT liners.

Triple-wall is reserved for export, bulk chemical drums, or exceptionally heavy equipment where maximum protection is mandatory.

B-flute offers strength and good print surface. C-flute is the most common for shipping. E-flute gives a smooth finish ideal for retail display packaging.

Popular Box Styles We Stock

Regular Slotted Carton (RSC): Most versatile everyday box. All flaps same length, meet in center when folded.

Full Overlap Slotted Carton (FOL): Flaps fully overlap for extra top/bottom strength and stacking rigidity.

Die-Cut Mailers & Easy-Fold: One-piece designs with tuck tabs or auto-lock bottoms. Great for e-commerce subscription boxes and apparel.

Cube, Long & Tall: Special aspect ratios for lamps, artwork, golf clubs, and awkward shapes.

Multi-Depth Boxes: Scored lines so one SKU can serve as multiple heights — reduces your box inventory SKUs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the most common corrugated box used for shipping?

The most commonly used shipping box is a standard single-wall Regular Slotted Carton (RSC) rated at 32 ECT. These are ideal for packages under 65 lbs and are accepted by all major carriers including UPS, FedEx, and USPS.

What's the difference between ECT and burst strength ratings?

ECT (Edge Crush Test) measures how much top-to-bottom stacking pressure a box can withstand. Burst strength (Mullen test) measures how much puncture pressure the box wall can resist. Most modern shipping specs use ECT; 32 ECT is standard, 44 ECT is heavy duty.

Can I order corrugated boxes in bulk?

Yes — Material Handling USA specializes in bulk orders. Pricing breaks apply at case, pallet, and truckload quantities. Contact us at (800) 326-4403 or request a quote online for volume pricing.

Do you carry double-wall and triple-wall boxes?

Yes. We stock double-wall (DW) boxes rated up to 48 ECT and triple-wall (TW) heavy-duty cartons for the most demanding industrial applications. SKUs are available for same-day or next-day shipping.

How do I choose the right box size?

Measure your product at its widest points and add 2–3 inches on each dimension for void fill. For multiple items, add the combined dimensions plus 2–3 inches of packing material on all sides. Our team can help with sizing recommendations — call (800) 326-4403.

Do you offer white or printed corrugated boxes?

Yes. We carry white outward-facing liner boxes for improved appearance and branding. One-color or multi-color custom printing is available on most sizes with volume minimums.

Are your boxes made from recycled material?

A large percentage of our standard corrugated inventory contains high recycled fiber content. Many sizes are 100% recyclable and meet major retailer sustainability scorecards. Ask us for specific recycled content certifications.
