Ridg U Rak

The town of Northeast Pennsylvania is located in the northwestern part of Pennsylvania, near Lake Erie. It is well-connected to the New England and Southern states.

Ridg U Rak is a member of the Rackman RAC Manufacturing Institute, and they set standards and guidelines for the industry.

The new product is a groundbreaking innovation that has the potential to revolutionize the industry. Through its utilization of cutting-edge technology, this product offers unprecedented capabilities that are sure to drastically change the way we approach the market. By incorporating seismic data from the U. S. Geological Survey and other sources, the product is able to deliver optimal results in a constantly updating environment. With these advancements, the new product takes a bold step forward, opening the door to exciting opportunities.

Ridg U Rak putting together a proposal

So you going out on a project and you think you may need counteracting that while? And I have a questionnaire for driving selective tracking, which Bacharach’s questions that you need to complete in order for me to provide provide a proposed. All that information that you provide gets put into our design program. And it is a live program, it’s actually. It gets updated constantly with seismic information. U.S. Geological Survey. More and more, we’re seeing seismic come into play even in places where you don’t think the Massachusetts or the New England states. You know, we look at all that seismic and it’s not a heavy seismic zone.  put that into our program. So I have a slide here that some of the basic information that we do need.

Ridg U Rak wants to know what are you storing

We need sizes and if there’s anything special about the project. Maybe it’s pallets that have overhang on. Maybe it’s going on a mobile platform system, all things like that.

Here’s some more information. We always look at maximum load weight, that’s very important. The type of pallet it is. You may have a product that’s in the bin and it’s got feed on the bottom of runners on the bottom. You need to know that any more with the information that you can share with me, photos, anything like that is helpful. A metal pallet, a skid that has led you to board a plane from the back. It may disfigure your wire decking on selected rack. You don’t know that in advance. We can design for that. But again, we need that information.

Ridg U Rack questionnaires can be  provided.

And again, and ask you this basic information here, it was actually shipped to City. And zip code is very important as well as that gets it in our program, it goes to the US Geological Survey and comes up with a design factor for us. Customer name, I always ask the customer name, you’re not going to see me after selling direct, I we file everything, everything quite possibly differently. Want to send it back? It will have a customer make a six digit number.

Another consideration on there is outdoor storage. That becomes an issue with snow loading, wind shear, all racking needs to be anchored to concrete. That’s an army manufacturer’s specifications. So we always take that into consideration. If it’s going on to a mobile platform, then then the platform itself is is attached to the concrete. But again, this is all all information that we need to put together a.

These are the different types of storage racks that Ridg U Rak offers.

We have the standard selective rack up to operate, maybe wire decking across crossbars. We get into high density type reracking, drive and push back very near double the current flow flow. And we’ll cover this a little bit more, each one as I get in there. I have a node here, the. We used to do somebody asked me about Iraq. That was actually from Vonnegut just this week, we’ve actually gotten out of that business.

That used to be a big business probably about 10 years ago. And virtually we get maybe one or two requests a year. So we just don’t do that any longer. And I should get out of my out of my presentation and some of the other types of special. In fact, we do pick modules. We use the isolator for out west high seismic areas that’s designed to keep product on the pallet rack in case of an earthquake. Just some specialized things that we get into that maybe some of the other suppliers don’t. As I mentioned, your basic selective rack of just frames, the wire decking crossbars, it’s very important when, again, getting that information pallet load size, if it’s going to be blocked, is all that information.

Ridg U Rak Upright frames are actually based at capacity, is based on vertical beams facing the father of these beams are part the less capacity that upright.

You’ve got to stand straight up in the air and it’s four foot tall and you take your hand and push down on it. It’s going to snap in the middle very easily. It’s only two foot tall. It takes a lot more pressure to snap that. And so that’s again, goes back to getting us the information. Here, this is, again, very selective, as you can get to whatever product. It’s not a deep system they will be and you make different types of selective.

The first one is very a very popular.

You see that all over the teardrop style. Now, years and years ago, when companies performed, everybody made their own type of hook and being connector, there was a company at that time called or like they were a giant in the industry. They made teardrop racking over the years, became so popular. All the other manufacturers have made their own version of it. And this is just our version. We have been doing this since probably right around 99.

On this design.

Four different sizes and shapes and sizes they from. We have three inch wide space, we have a four inch wide space. We have a one in five staff that we have a quarter, a three by three to four by three. Out of those column sizes, we have different gauges, so we take that information, put it into our program, it’ll give us. The correct gauge column size of the material to handle the loads that are being required to give us the lightest material that’s needed to carry those loads.

That way we come up with an economical.

A lot of times you wouldn’t believe people say, hey, I have a real light load or a real heavy load and not provide any more information than that, a real light load at the pillow manufacturers, a different light load than the bowling ball manufacturer. So, again, we got to get those specific details and we do need actual pounds per level or pounds per pound so we can take that into consideration. On the upright or to the on the vertical being the lower Lobi. We actually made anywhere from a two and a half inch up to a six and a half inch, based on that all depends on what capacity you need, what length you need a longer the length of the beam, the less capacity as we manufacture those beans in three different gauges as well, depending on what capacity you need.

That’s that’s that’s what being we designed and all of our Ridg U Rack  product is going well and there are some other manufacturers out there that folks are bracing and that’s not us.

We do all well frames, beams, all the beams come with an automatic lock on them to snap it in place, being locked in place. That automatic lock, again, is a requirement that it resists a thousand pounds of vertical. So if they accidentally hit it with their left or a pallet taking the product out, they’re not going to accidentally pop that beam out of place. This is by far the most popular Iraq, just endurance adds. You’ll see the other side in Iraq that we make here, but this is this is probably well over 60, 70 percent of the product that we send now is a drop sell like.

When manufacturers started making out again 80 years ago, everybody had their own type of pallet racking as far as their their connector to upright connection. Ours was a lot of design. So a lot of this over the years. It’s very popular in Pennsylvania. I guess I’m going to say the New England states, Pennsylvania, maybe not so much out west just because. Different manufacturer. We didn’t show what I was way back when, but it’s still out there, capacity wise is braided very similar to the teardrop racking. We only make three different sizes of column on the slotted style.

This is just one four inch increments where the teardrop was just one, two, and you have.

A clear height that you in the building, sometimes that two inches makes a difference. So we’ll go with the tip drops in order to make it that again, still very popular, good, solid racking. But probably a majority of the folks that are going to do for you are going to drop.

We make these beams in the same size as a two and a half inch and a half, just like the same beam. It’s just got a different connector on. These also have an automatic lock on. Barack, we offer Barack.

But we’re it’s not our main product line. We have other manufacturers that we compete against that only provide structure and we’re more of a role for.

Ridg U Rak is interested in a lot of large proposals

Maybe a truckload or two at the most or the last or real heavy applications. I do a lot of work for General Electric, although no one ten thousand pounds a level will make that out of a structural. And it’s not an issue we can be competitive at. But you send me a drawing with a two hundred thousand square foot warehouse and it’s got to be structural. I’ll just say, hey, this really isn’t us. I would suggest you work with somebody else on that do offer. But typically we’re not quite competitive at it just because it’s not a main product line. This is just an example of some of the projects that we’ve done, these are actually going on mobile platforms.

We do an approval drawing with those. We send that out so you can ship the platform back to where they’re punching that hole in the floor pad, things like that. Our center line of tracking what the vertical spacing of the beams or just just a project that we’ve done to show. How that works and interface with the mobile platform. This is another thing. This is for Donnegan as well. This is a project that they were doing a record store, John. So, again, basic frames and beams. We actually provided what we call punch decking. We get that from an OEM supplier where they can store boxes on this.

Record storage – they can put on these perforated decks to allow water penetration if necessary, and we could use wire deck  in that application as well.

But typically what happens to record storage over time? The boxes kind of form to the configuration of a mesh and the hard to get on and off the boxes for, even though this corrugated boxes supports that load. Well, the boxes slide off and on. So it makes for a good product. Just some other examples of like a high density type Iraq, again, depends on the lift truck, the manufacturer, the supplier, the customer has double reach. It’s really just power racking, but it is double what you have to have to do that design wise, it’s of virtually no difference in how attractive that you’re promoting with a four wheel sit down typewriter.

Mareuil, again, same type and selective rack, it just depends on the track that’s being used, we can manufacture up to 40 to it. Thirty seven foot with. So we get into a 40 foot uprights with slicing. Again, you have to look at the application to make sure it works for the area, the loading, but it is a possibility misapply. Anywhere from a small project like I showed you a couple of drawings up to distribution center for Wal-Mart, Target, Lowe’s, Amazon, you name it. Some buildings are just acres and acres of racking, so it just depends on the product project. We can be competitive on a small project, we can be competitive on a large project.

Another type of high density rack that Ridg U Rak offers is drive in.

This is a project Ridg U Rak did in Pennsylvania. They are actually storing frozen pizza dough. Drive in rack is what it is. You drive into it, drop your pallet, you come back out, sits on these rails. It’s a very specialized system. It’s got to be designed such that. You’re not mixed use everything in this, these lanes are the same as you were actually storing frozen pizza dough so it would come out of an oven, get wrapped and go into a blast freezer to be frozen. They would manufacture in truckload quantities. They would shipping and drive Rentrak works. Very good for that.

If you have a lot of onesie Tunisie product, it’ll never work. I’ve seen a lot of competitors state, hey, I can get X number of pallet positions in this building, but when you look at your product mix over time, they’re not going to be able to do it just because the fact that if you wanted this pallet up on top, you’ve got to load the pallets, unload the pallets underneath to get to it just doesn’t work. And manpower was. That’s a little more on drive, and we have a couple of different types of rails for drive in, and that picture of that building was in the shape of an owl. So I think I went nine D on some of it and some of it was only to dispense then figured out into that building.

Another high density type by Ridg U Rak is Push Back Racking

This is a court system, actually, if on carts you actually push those back with the lift, it exposes the cart underneath. It gives you another store we manufacture through five deep system.

Does the same thing, as I said, you can go deeper on the drive. But this is a lot more user friendly, where if you want this, this is queue up here, let’s say this is you a and this has to be you don’t have to download anything beneath it and just go pull here and pull these pallets out. Much more flexible system than the drive in. And it’s kind of oriented to a lot of different. It cost more than a drive in. But again, it’s much more user friendly, lot less damage. You’re not driving into a. Again, getting the information Pallot information is very important on any high density, such as drive and push back gravity. So I’m going to really want all that information again that that is on those questionnaires.

Ridg U Rak decided just to go after five deep out of all the push back we do, you would think people would want to go deeper to death as our most popular. So we’ve just been focusing on the less deeper systems. Gravity flow rack. Alice Cooper actually sat on a wall or this is actually a first in, first out, so we you set a pallet here, it’s going to travel down through here. He says the interval breaks built into them. And actually slows the and and we can. We can go to through I think we’ve done as many as twenty five pounds the again, when you’re doing very deep systems, how it’s very important.

Any time you have broken or missing chords, it’s going to be an issue you have to be very good at in order to do that. With the drive in and push back, you normally have an aisle on one side, the gravity flow rack you would have an aisle on to actually have a loading aisle and then picking on. And as you get into this more complex system, the price goes up for power position over the drive in and what we have done. I just did. When you’re not too long ago, it was for a ground beef manufacturer where they had to have to first in first out because of the Cold War years ago.

They would have to hold the beef twenty four hours for testing.

So they would load it, they had to know which, OK, this was the first second. I think it was 10 feet after the twenty four hours. Check it again and then they unload the ship for those lanes. So again, it had to be first in, first out.

And that’s how they treated it. Down below is just some example of like curtains closed for which we don’t manufacture the car close, but we can provide a tricky system and work with OEM provider vendors to do what you need is fast flowing boxes, cartons. We need to know the apartment block size of weight. And then there are multiple different types of little rollers to roll these. And again, you have a pick in Fergin on these.

This is a very special system, probably not going to run into a lot of your guys, and this is more for large warehouses where. It’s a module system where you would have maybe some Khatun flow on the bottom, they may score just your selective rack power to push back that walkway that conveyers built into it a very specialized system, believe it or not, any more. That’s becoming a big part of our business. And some of these platforms are hundreds of feet long. Me, and it’s probably on our website, we did one up in the Boston area and it’s the largest in the state and flew through it and we did like a sales video on it. And it’s just amazing how large facility that these take. But it is another product line. And had to leave Iraq, and I mentioned the furniture store cantilever, we kind of gotten out of that, just don’t see many requests for it anymore.

Like I say, 10, 15 years ago, there was a big push to do the big. Furniture cantilever systems, again, they were crazy for a while, and I think everybody kind of overshot themselves, many of them went went bankrupt, then we sort of use the furniture rack on the market, couldn’t compete with it.

It just kind of the requests have dried up. It’s something that we did offer at one time. We get more regular IBM style that you would see at Home Depot or Lowe’s that you would use for lumber storage. Again, it’s got to be anchored in concrete. If it’s going outside. You need to know that again because you take an extra consideration for snow load when we do not do any roof support. If we see those a lot in the lumber yard, there’s a ton of engineering involved in those. And we just just decided that’s just not something that we want to want to look into. Another specialist system, again, something we often don’t know if you’re going to see it very often, it’s a. Tracking system has Intervale Crane built into it the dies. Electric motors, heavy loads, very specialized loading. You may have a system that is the dye itself, maybe for two or three hundred thousand dollars injection or something like that. And you can’t you can’t have a driver running that around on a forklift.

And a lot of times I did a big project like this and that was. They they did lids for Pepsi. They did not own that Pepsi actually owned that.

So they were responsible for it.

So they ended up going with a Dysport system like this with different different lids on products that they did before injection. Yeah, maybe something that you never run into, but let you know it’s out there. We do. Just some of that the. Accessories that we do with the tracking drum cradles, metal decking. We do wire decking that corrugated decking. I mentioned something spacers need to be tied back to back. That’s all stuff that we offer with our pallet racking. Father. There’s the wire decking, it stopped if you got something going up against the wall column, guards would do an internal reinforcing in or uprights as well to prevent damage, just all things that we offer to our product line.

Trade has become such an issue now, LTL carriers don’t like shipping, tracking, not on pallets.

I mean, you get everything, but it’s not nice and easy as a box of magazines or whatever. So LTL rates are very costly. I hate to say, like the West Coast, it’s very expensive to ship product to. An enclosed van to the West Coast, I think a good one here not too long ago. About forty five, forty six hundred dollars. So that’s another consideration that’s taken into account. Just one of the things that we’re faced with right now. We’re only holding pricing for seven days on material. We follow the American metal market index for hot rolled steel last July. Steel was around twenty three dollars. One hundred weight as of this morning. It was sixty two point nine nine one hundred. So getting pretty close to tripling their. And it almost changes daily, so it’s very difficult to keep up with the pricing right now.

And I think you’ve seen that probably from anybody that’s showing people or walkers anything like that, probably holding prices for seven days.

That’s about. Some of the photos that I had there had some different colors of racking our standard color is a dark force, green on the uprights and a safety orange. We offer a different color. We have about a dozen, what we call standard colors that we offer. We have a color selector that you can look at those online or I can send a color check. We really try to stay away from. Matching colors and the issue with that is it always takes time and you really can’t we coat all our material so you can’t really take the time to formulate a special color. If somebody says, I got to have Coca-Cola, just it is what it is, it’s got to be that color. We will look and come up with a color that is and probably with the naked eye. You can’t tell the difference in it to say this is a Coca-Cola read that you have to have, but.

Our powdered coat paint  system. Takes a hundred pounds of powder to charge.

When you’re done, you still have to have that one hundred pounds of powder in the system. That Coca-Cola red we may never use again that hundred pounds of powder gets sent to the recycler, but it almost literally gets thrown away.

So we have to charge extra for that paint that we just lost. In order to do we buy paint in truckload quantities? So now you’re buying a smaller quantity of LTL freight. I had a customer that just had to have a special color. It was called a silver Bayen. It was almost like a silver metallic textured paint. I did everything I could to talk them out of it. They had to have it. A typical frame for them was probably around one hundred and fifty dollars. They needed one additional frame, so we ran into but damaged it with freight, the extra cost of the paint and just doing one frame of push, that frame price up to about a thousand dollars.

So. We try to stay away from doing that. Have we match colors? Yes, but I’m going to try to talk you out of. We do also offer galvanize if you’re doing an outdoor finish or an outdoor storage project or maybe a washed down area, we offer a hot dip. Galvanises well. What a lot of estate members ask, do we have a GSA and we do not? We do have a government agency on large projects, I do ask him if he wants to have them involved, we can do that. The government agent would help with paperwork, anything like that, any government regulations that he can help you. What he does do that smaller projects. If the member why do you guys do government work? You feel comfortable with it? That’s not an issue, but we do not have a specific GSA account set up government.

There are all of our literature, there are photos, case studies, there are some animated videos.

If your customers are having an issue trying to grab out of a how does a push back work. That’s all on our website. Or if you need to, I can easily break it out. Send it to I think we put literature on the ISG a reference file as well. If not, I can I can send that out as well so you can pick literature and information from that. I

Yeah, we do peg projects to current American metal market index.

But. For right now, we’re saying we want to project it is pegged at. Steel cost of sixty dollars, one hundred way, even though I said it was like sixty two point ninety nine right now for May, we’re still getting still at six. So forty five days prior to that, you look at so let’s say a quarter today. The project doesn’t go for two more months. We relook at that, and if it goes up to sixty five, we’re probably going to add five cents a pound to the project, we just cannot old pricing with the the market as it is right now for steel. So it’s just one of those. Battles that we have to face, we’re looking at long term projects, knowing that seven days is the price.

So you’re saying based on the price you give us today, we probably ought to be smart, let our clients prices based on feel right if they’re going to vote up or down or pay, say, based on this deal is today the percentages that we’re going to move right along with it?

Exactly. And and we do look at it still comes down. We move our market down as well. We’ve done that as of honestly this year. We don’t foresee steel coming down probably till maybe late summer.

And again, it’s the supply and demand.

It’s not going to get any better this summer. But yes, you’re right, we would have to. And that is when you get a quote from me, you’re going to think I own stock in a paper company because we do send about like seven pages with our quote. There’s a couple of pages of terms and conditions on the quote. There’s a footnote does cover this deal cost adjustment if you’re paying? Well, I guess it would take and all kind of turns on there anything seismic. And all that information is on the proposed

Well, it’s just an example. And Mark, which is a steel mill company out of Pennsylvania, Ferrol, Pennsylvania, they’ve been on strike. They’ve just went back in. So that’ll give a little more tonnage. But it is it does happen quite often that they do take these furnaces down for maintenance and and even even, let’s say, the price when the price went down to twenty three, that they took them offline then just just to bring the price up so there’s no sense of running them if there’s not the need or they’re not going to make money out of it. But right now apparently that’s, that’s the article I read was scheduled to make.

projects on heat and concrete. That heated concrete’s a factor, are there any other anchor solutions?

Why, no, no, all all racking needs to be anchored in concrete. If they have heat on the floor, even if it’s a freezer that has a black hole in the floor, if they know how deep it is, perhaps our anchors may not be an issue. But we passed up a lot of projects that have hit the floor that you just can’t anchor racking. It’s not safe if you don’t anchor it and we won’t sell it if you don’t anchor it. You just had to pass on. So heating the floor is an issue.

n into smaller projects and code compliance is a real boondoggle for both clients. And I’m working with them on a giant warehouse and maybe dropping a few sections in here. They’re trying to navigate the High Bay of Fire Code and obviously seismic. You guys, can you guys help out without at all or is that just a to drop money engineer engineering or how do we how do I go about.

Yeah, we pretty much just supply the p e stamp drawings if you need an egress sprinkler.

I got one line here that somebody is working on right now. They asked me about my pile, like you mentioned, say life safety and egress. Typically, a lot of those have to be done by a licensed architect. And it’s so crazy. Each municipality is different and we do not have a permitting office or anybody like that. Sometimes we can refer you to somebody. If we know of them, perhaps they would come across them in the past. But most times, again, we just really provide the P stamp drawings.

are you providing the stamped engineer drawings on everything we design as if we are, but they don’t necessarily have to be on every drawing like here in Pennsylvania, the western part of the state? I never get a request for eastern part of the state on large projects. We always have to do P stamp drawings and they have to have hard copy drawings. Massachusetts.

Most times in Massachusetts, they require and a post rack inspection, things like that, it’s just different on every every disability and even like Massachusetts towns are right beside each other, may require high pile safety reports or egress reports, things like that in the next town of.

It’s very, very difficult to keep track of, but if we do, I normally put a note on the drawing and drawings cost whatever.

And here you go. But that’s that’s that’s really about all we we. Supply, but we do design each proposal for that.

Do you charge us on the front end to supply that, or is that something you supply when we’re asking for the bid is with an order we would charge for the floor on the bid portion. There’s no no additional price for that at that time. At that time, once we have an order to do the. And then there would be a state of cost for those drawings on the proposal.

 emerging markets

They have been going crazy. Amazon for all those types of markets like that or just going crazy some of the. Restaurant suppliers, pool suppliers,  back to normal pharmaceutical companies again, they were going crazy. Still are. We’ll get requests from them. Hey, we need this cracking ropy drawings in two weeks. What do we have to pay to get it?
