What's New
The U.S. Department of Labor recently passed a new law regarding lactation space in the workplace. As of June of 2023, employers with 15 or more employees are required by the PUMP Act to provide reasonable break time and space for nursing mothers for up to a year after the birth of their child. Under this new law, the space allotted for nursing mothers must be shielded and free from intrusion. The location must be somewhere other than a bathroom. The good news is, Panel Built has many options for lactation rooms.
Lactation Pods Designed by Working Mothers for Mothers
Firstly, Lactation Pods contribute to creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for breastfeeding mothers by ensuring their comfort, privacy, and convenience. They help to address the needs of lactating individuals who may otherwise face challenges or discomfort when trying to breastfeed or pump in public.
In addition the US has implemented laws and regulations. Finally! To ensure that public spaces and workplaces provide appropriate facilities for breastfeeding. Lactation pods are one of the solutions that organizations and establishments adopt to comply with these requirements and promote a breastfeeding-friendly environment.
What’s more and worth noting that while lactation pods are a positive step towards supporting breastfeeding, it’s essential to continue advocating for comprehensive policies that protect the rights of lactating individuals and normalize breastfeeding in society.

First, what is the lactating mother policy?
The Federal Break Time for Nursing Mothers law requires employers covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) to provide basic accommodations for breastfeeding mothers at work. These accommodations include time for women to express milk and a private space that is not a bathroom each time they need to pump.
Under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), most nursing employees have the right to reasonable break time and a place, other than a bathroom, that is shielded from view to express breast milk while at work. This right is available for up to one year after the child’s birth.

Additionally, you want to know. What does a lactation pod do?
First a lactation pod allows a woman to pump or breast feed in a private area. Lactation pods, are also known as lactation rooms or nursing pods. They are private spaces specifically designed for breastfeeding or expressing milk in public places. These pods provide a comfortable and secure environment for lactating individuals to breastfeed their babies or pump breast milk.
Equally important, lactation pods typically feature a small enclosed area with a comfortable seat, a table or shelf for a breast pump and other accessories, and a power outlet for electric pumps. They may also include amenities such as adjustable lighting, ventilation, and a soundproof environment to ensure privacy and reduce distractions.
Next, the purpose of lactation pods is to support and promote breastfeeding by providing a dedicated space where individuals can nurse or express milk in public settings. These pods are especially beneficial in places like airports, shopping malls, workplaces, and other public areas where individuals may need a private space to breastfeed or pump.
